Hair Removal

Hair's active growth phase is called anagen. During anagen, the hair contains an abundance of melanin.   Catagen is the regression phase when the lower part of the hair stops growing but is not shed, and the follicle is reabsorbed.   The resting phase is called telogen, during which the old hair falls out in preparation for the development of new hair.

New Lyra® Hair Removal System

Courtsey: Laserscope

The old fashioned ways of removing hair (shaving, tweezing, creams and waxes) are time consuming and short lasting. Electrolysis can permanently remove hair, but is so slow and very painful. Forget the above and try the NEW LYRA Laser for hair removal! The Laserscope Lyra delivers long-pulsed laser light down to the follicles, destroying them or impairing their growth. The laser beam is computer guided and passed through a cooling window to protect your skin. For this reason, this form of hair removal is safely used on all skin types and skin colors. Multiple sessions are required to obtain optimal results. Depending on the site to be treated, the time involved may range from 20 minutes to one hour.

Skin Peels and Skin Rejuvenation Treatments

Acne Scars Treatment with CoolTouch® Facial Rejuvenation Laser

New! CoolTouch® Facial Rejuvenation Laser Treatment

The treatment is done using a protective cryogen spray, that cools the skin and allows the laser light to penetrate deeper into the dermis. The cooling protects the sensitive surface skin layers and nerve endings, while the laser light stimulates the fibroblasts deep in the dermis where new collagen is generated. After three treatments or more, patients see their skin becoming smoother. Acne scars are significantly improved and aging skin is effectively renewed. The process is most effective on saucer shaped acne scars and fine lines around the eyes and mouth. Safe for all Skin types and colors, sessions usually take about 20-30 minutes and patients can resume their normal activities immediately.

New! DermaPhoresis®

A great new treatment for fine lines and sun-damaged skin. This combination of positive action Salt-A-Peel microdermabrasion, ultrasound technology, and a high potency AHA / Antioxidant cream removes the thickened and sun-damaged outer layer of the skin while allowing the proprietary cream to travel further into the lower layers of the skin. The whole process is called DermaPhoresis. Sessions take about 30-45 minutes and patients report feeling immediate and continuous tightening, softer and smoother skin. They have noticed that their skin is more resilient and friends have commented that they seem to have a “ healthy youthful glow” about them. Multiple treatments are recommended for optimal results. Safe for all skin types and Colors.

Positive Action Salt-A-Peel®

This positive action Salt-based Microdermabrasion (known as Macrodermabrasion) provides faster, better, safer skin rejuvenation than traditional microdermabrasion. This exclusive new system builds on traditional micro peel technology by adding a combination of integrated skin care products and positive pressure salt abrasion for better results. Great for reducing the look of fine lines/wrinkles, acne scars, sun damaged skin, age spots, uneven skin tone, and just a wonderful skin maintenance program, this quick “lunchtime” treatment allows you to resume normal activities immediately. Deep abrasion produces outstanding results in fewer treatments. Sessions take about 20-30 minutes and you can return to your regular activities immediately without any redness or streaking. Safe for all skin types and colors.

DermaPeel® Particle Skin Resurfacing

This is the traditional Microdermabrasion treatment using negative action dermabrasion. Here however, we have decided to use Sodium Bicarbonate instead of Aluminum Oxide particles. Non-invasive and non-surgical, this procedure uses a highly controlled spray of fine crystals to remove the outer layer of skin and reveal the younger, tighter, and more radiant skin underneath. Common treatments include: blackheads, whiteheads, fine lines/wrinkles, sun-damaged skin, Acne prone skin, superficial age spots, and oily skin. Safe for all skin types and colors, the average session time is 30 minutes.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peeling is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin. A chemical is applied to the area being treated that causes it to separate then eventually peel off. The new skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled and even-toned than the old skin. Another treatment for fine lines under eyes, around the mouth, the full face, and other parts of the body, this office uses the Jessner Peel that combines lactic acid, salicylic acid, and resorcinol when a chemical peel is requested or indicated. We also use glycolic acid in 30, 50, and 70% concentrations. These chemical peels are used in conjunction with other treatments to improve the appearance of our patient’s skin.

Laser Vein Removal

Lyra® Vein Removal

Courtsey:
Laserscope

Lyra provides the most risk-free treatment for dark and tanned skin. The Lyra laser produces 1064nm wavelength. While the rest of the skin is almost completely transparent for this wavelength, it is highly absorbed in blood. Thus, the laser beam passes through the skin and penetrates the targeted vessel. The laser energy heats up and coagulates blood inside the vessel. Unsupported, vessel walls collapse and seal. These vessels later dissolve within the body.

Juvéderm™

Juvéderm™ - the “next-generation” dermal filler!

As we age, our skin changes. Over time, the natural volume of youthful skin begins to diminish as wrinkles and folds form. But, with Juvéderm™ injectable gel, you don't have to just sit back and let it happen! Recently approved by the FDA, Juvéderm™ injectable gel is a “next-generation” dermal filler. The smooth consistency gel helps to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your "smile lines" or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth).

Juvéderm™ is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Your healthcare professional eases Juvéderm™ injectable gel under the skin to provide a smooth, natural look and feel—so everyone will notice (but no one will know)! In fact, studies show superior results of Juvéderm™ compared to a collagen-based dermal filler.* And, almost 90% of all study volunteers who were treated with both Juvéderm™ injectable gel and another dermal filler* preferred Juvéderm™! In addition, Juvéderm™ injectable gel is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is proven to be safe and effective for persons of color.

RadiesseTM

RadiesseTM for Facial Rejuvenation **

New products constantly are being developed to help ease the ravages of time and aging. One of these is Radiesse, an injectable compound of calcium hydroxylapatite suspended in an aqueous gel. Radiesse is an excellent filler for nasolabial folds, marionette lines, oral commissurae, and deep rhytides.

The technique for administering Radiesse is subdermal injection, most commonly at the junction of deep dermis and subcvutaneous tissue. On withdrawal of the syringe, small aliquots of material are deposited uniformly along the plane. Subsequent injections may be made through the same entry point.

Radiesse is considered a semipemanent filler. Most recent clinical data have reported between 30% and 100% correction at 1 year. In my clinical experience, correction of at least 1 year results in high patient satisfaction. However, booster injections may be required during this period for patients with deep defects. Regardless of the exact correction duration, this injectable compound holds promise for long-term soft tissue augmentation of lines, depressions, scars and facial defects.

Other Cosmetic Treatments

Botox®

A BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment is a simple, nonsurgical procedure that smoothes the deep, persistent lines between your brows that develop over time. One 10-minute treatment consisting of a few tiny injections, relaxes the muscles that cause those lines to form and keeps them relaxed up to 4 months. BOTOX® Cosmetic has been widely tested. Now it’s approved by the FDA. BOTOX® Cosmetic relaxes the overactive muscles whose repeated contractions cause the lines between your brows to form. So you can frown, smile, or look surprised without the furrows, creases, and wrinkles.

CosmoDerm™ and CosmoPlast™

Sometimes, no matter how youthful you feel, your face tells a different story. Sunlight, natural aging and lifestyle factors can diminish the collagen layer that supports the skin. And where collagen diminishes, unwelcome lines and wrinkles may appear.

Now, for the first time ever, you can replace collagen through innovative new treatments made from natural human collagen. They're called CosmoDerm™ and CosmoPlast™, and they're changing the face of beauty.

Drawing upon the latest breakthroughs in skin science, CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast contain natural human collagen grown under controlled laboratory conditions. This natural human collagen is similar to the collagen normally found in the skin. So there's no need for a pre-treatment skin test.

And here's the best part. No more skin testing means no more weeks of waiting for the results. Instead, you can smooth away telltale lines and wrinkles or add definition to the lip border with just one quick visit to your physician. And since recovery time is short, you can easily sneak in a treatment during your lunch hour.
