From the days of Ponce
de Leon to the present, the pursuit of the veritable
"fountain of youth" has been constant. Maintaining
our youth is a passion, an obsession. Dr. Jim Baral,
a Board Certified Dermatologist and Assistant Clinical
Professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, believes
one can reverse the signs of aging. So strong
is his belief that he has devoted much of his practice,
American Dermatology Center located on Central Park
South, to utilizing the most cutting-edge cosmetic
dermatology treatments to help his patients achieve
younger looking skin, while offering advanced technology
in other traditional areas of dermatology. Men and
women benefit from the services provided by Dr. Baral
and his staff.
Background
Born in Cracow, Poland
and a survivor of the Holocaust, Dr. Baral received
his medical degree from the University of Sydney,
Australia. He then received his New York State license
when he immigrated to the United States. He began
his career in the field of Pediatric Medicine, gaining
recognition as the co-discoverer of Reye’s Syndrome,
a potentially fatal disease that affects the liver
and brain in children and adults. In 1980, he turned
his attention to the study of dermatology, and today
his private practice concentrates on cosmetic dermatology
and its related treatments and procedures.
Services
American Dermatology Center
offers both traditional and state-of-the-art technology
for cosmetic and medical dermatological issues, with
highly specialized treatments tailored to meet the
needs of all age groups and skin tones.
The Center’s anti-aging
procedures integrate hi-tech instruments and procedures
including DermaPhoresis, MicroDermadrasion,
Botox and Collagen for skin rejuvenation, facial line
reduction and removal and treatment of sun-damaged
skin, among other cosmetic dermatology needs. The
Center’s other services focus on treating acne scars,
acne, skin cancer, nail and foot fungus and keratoses,
as well as other traditional dermatological issues.
Vein Removal and Laser Hair Removal
procedures are also available.
Because of Dr. Baral’s
desire to offer his patients the most innovative dermatological
treatments and procedures available, he maintains
ongoing relationships with medical and technical personnel
so he is kept abreast of new developments in the field.
For example, Dr. Baral
utilizes the SoftLight Laser Skin Peel with the still available
proprietary carbon cream to rejuvenate tortured hands.
DermaPhoresis treatment, a combination of Salt-A-Peel,
Ultrasound and a proprietary AHA and Antioxidant cream
is routinely utilized to exfoliate and administer
nutrients to the lower layers of the skin. The addition
of ultrasound is the unique element that delivers
the nutrients by opening small pockets in the skin
whereby they are absorbed for quick and effective
skin rejuvenation.
